Calling New Hogs: Drew Morgan Commits To Arkansas!

Who needs a head coach?

After an impressive performance in the state championship game on Saturday, Arkansas offered Greenwood athlete Drew Morgan and Morgan committed to Arkansas on Monday.

Morgan had been committed to Arkansas State but earned an offer to the Razorbacks after he posted 83 yards and a touchdown on nine rushing attempts, 87 yards and a touchdown on four receptions, 55 yards on three kickoff returns, and nine tackles with an interception just to make sure people were paying attention to him. Reporters covering the game absolutely raved about him on twitter and message boards, so it's not surprising people were interested in him.

It is kind of odd that Morgan was offered while the coaching staff is essentially in complete limbo. I understand some coaches who are hoping to be on the new coach's staff COUGHtimhortonCOUGH are still out there recruiting, but it's one thing to recruit and another thing to make an offer before knowing who the new coach is. That Horton or another coach felt strongly enough about Morgon to offer him without a head coach's approval-especially knowing that coach could come any day-says a lot about how much the coaches think of him. If Morgan is as good as people are saying, the new coach should be happy to have Morgan in the fold.

Morgan is the 17th commitment in the 2013 class.

In other recruiting news today, Pulaski Academy tight end Hunter Henry, who committed to Arkansas in the summer, shot up the latest rankings, from just outside the top 100 to the number 58 player in the nation. North Little Rock running back, and Alabama commit, Altee Tenpenny is now the 37th ranked player in the country.
