Hyundai feels our pain, guys. Clearly, they know how awful this season has been for Arkansas fans. That must be why, in our darkest days, they're offering this little ray of hope as an escape from our worries.
Or maybe not, but either way, we're pretty stoked that Hyundai Fanthropology has come to SB Nation looking for college football's most loyal diehards and will be sending one of us (with a companion) to any game on 2012-13 regular season or bowl schedule - two tickets, airfare and hotel included.
And if we're being honest, what better year to win this contest than when the Hogs likely won't be going bowling? There's no obligation to spend those tickets on the Outback Bowl this year. Instead, you can do it up big at the National Championship game or head to Honolulu to take in the Hawaii Bowl.
Here's how it works:
In the comments to this story, tell us how you became an Arkansas fan. On Sunday, we'll be selecting the best commenter as a finalist for the contest. As a finalist, we'll talk college football and why we're Arkansas fans and take it to the front page. And if our conversation is selected by the judges as their favorite? You're going to whatever game you want.
Personally, I came of age when Hog Heaven was reserved for Nolan Richardson and his bunch, as they inflicted hell on opponents 40 minutes at a time. Sure, I can remember Quinn Grovey and Ken Hatfield and Barry Foster, et. al., and I was there when the Arkansas beat Texas, 14-13, in the last time we'd meet as SWC rivals. But as a seventh grader, I remember roaming War Memorial's underbelly, looking for girls with my buddy more than I remember anything about the 2nd and 3rd quarters of that game. What my buddy and I thought might come of such a meeting, I have no idea. But I digress...
(Your author, age 2. He would neither confirm or deny that this is still how he spends his gameday mornings.)
Like many of you, probably, I'm truly a Hog fan because I'm an Arkansas boy. Just like Tyler, D-Mac and Matt Jones. Those are always my favorite players, because they know what it means - they're one of us. They know we puff up our chests a little too easily and lift our chins a little too high sometimes. We do it because we're defiant. We don't give a damn what the rest of the country thinks or says about our little state and our little school. We love it and we're proud and no matter where we happen to be living, there's no other place we'd ever call home.
For me, the Hogs embody that. It's why every victory for them is a victory for us. They represent us in a way few schools can represent a state and its people, and come John L. or 40 Minutes of Hell, I'm glad they do.
Now, tell us why you're a loyal Hog fan - why even in one of the worst seasons in recent memory, you're here, at ArkansasExpats.com, devouring all the Hogs news and opinions you can feast your eyes on.
One important note: You get only one entry. So if you post an entry here and at another SBNation site, only the first one posted will count.
Feel free to leave any other questions in the comments, and good luck!
