Matt Emrich came to Arkansas as a walk-on deep snapper from El Dorado, but has earned himself a spot at the top of the depth chart as Zach Hocker's holder of choice of field goals.
You may remember from Bielema's post spring game press conference, there was inconsistency at holder last season (what, inconsistency in 2012? It's a shocker, I know.) and Bielema told Hocker to pick out the holder he felt most comfortable with. Hocker picked Emrich, and promptly connected on 7 of 8 field goals in the spring game. His lone miss was a 60 yard attempt.
Hocker said he felt "more confident than ever" in the spring game. Hopefully, having a single, reliable, hand-picked holder in Emrich will help Hocker return to 2010 and 2011 form.
Pictured is former Razorback defensive lineman Marcus Harrison. He was a force on Arkansas' defensive line from 2004-2007, earning a spot on the All-SEC 2nd team as a senior. From Mills High School in Little Rock, Harrison was drafted in the third round by the Chicago Bears in the 2008 NFL Draft. In three seasons with the Bears, Harrison recorded 55 tackles and three sacks.
