87 Days

Going By Faster Than You Think

'87 was a decent year for the Football Team. The hogs won as far East as Jackson, MS and as far West as Honolulu, HI. They ended with a loss to Georgia in the Liberty Bowl

'87 was a decent year for the Basketball Team, but would've been considered a banner year for the hogs currently. They won 4 out of 9 road games, 6 out of 8 neutral court games, but finished with back to back losses in the SWC tournament and in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament.

#87 is also the number worn by 2nd string on the current offensive depth Chart, Austin Tate. Austin is a Redshirt Senior, and was recruited by the Hogs during the 4 - 8 first year of Bobby Petrino, Redshirted during the 8-5 Liberty Bowl Season, Earned his first start in a win over Vanderbilt during the 10-3 Sugar Bowl Season, Contributed with a few catches and a start in the 2011 Season, and played in all 12 games last year including 8 starts. Austin has played in many games and many snaps for the hogs, but has yet to be on the receiving end of a Touchdown throw with any of the stellar Quarterbacks he's played with.

Austin Tate may not be lighting up the scoreboards, but playing in 37 games for the Razorbacks over the past 3 years, starting at Tight End, and Playing on kickoff Coverage/Return is nothing to sneeze at. Especially managing to play 25 games on two teams that combined for 21 wins in two seasons is nothing to sneeze at. Austin Tate is BIG at 6' 6" and 250+, and he may blossom under Bret Bielema. Bielema has been known to put some Tight Ends in the NFL, though it may be crowded this season with Mitchell Loewen sitting at the top of the depth chart right now, and Hunter Henry coming on Campus this Fall.

Austin Tate most importantly has been on the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll in 2010, 2011 and 2012 as well as the Razorback Honor Roll in the fall of 2010 and 2012 and the Athletic Director's List in the fall of 2011. Regardless of his contribution on the field, he really seems to represent what student athlete really means and does both parts of that job. Congrats on a great Razorback career so far Austin Tate. Hopefully we'll have even more to celebrate on November 2nd during your last game in Razorback Stadium.
