BJ Young Leaving Arkansas Basketball Team To Enter NBA Draft

Beth Hall-US PRESSWIRE

A couple of days after Marshawn Powell announced the same thing, the Razorbacks' All-SEC guard made his destination official.

BJ Young announced via the above tweet that he's leaving Arkansas and heading to the pros.

Young considered the draft last year after a stellar freshman season in which he earned a spot on both the SEC All-Freshman and All-SEC second team. He decided to come back for his sophomore year and was listed on several preseason All-SEC teams and was listed among the top guards in the country.

Young lived up to that promise at times this season, but struggled with his consistency in SEC play. He still led Arkansas in scoring, assists, and minutes played, and made game-winning plays against Missouri and Georgia. However he puzzled fans with a dramatic dip in three point shooting percentage, going from 41.3% as a freshman to just 22.7% as a sophomore. His free throw shooting fell as well, from 74.3% to 66.9%.

But Young was still very effective driving to the basket. His first step was among the fastest in the league and that helped him keep a field goal percentage of 44.9%, among the top in the league.

We wish BJ well in the pros. It would have been nice as Razorback fans to see him come back and bring his shooting percentage back, but it's hard to turn down the money.

Thank you for the two seasons, BJ. Especially that Missouri victory. That was great!
